News… winter 2010

We are wintering at Riberach !

January is wishes time when you recover from the dreadful time you had at the end of the previous year on a financial and healthy point of view. I think that everybody will agree with that !

Our wishes for 2010 ?

We wish you to respect the good resolutions you took before the hangover in order to start the new year on fine day.

But what’s new under the Winter sun of the Roussillon ?

Half December, Winter surprised us. An Indian Autumn had settled making us forget that we were at the foot of the Pyrenees. There is always a weather conflict between the sea and the mountain, and for now, the mountain talks to us !

 On the Cellar side !

No news, good news ! mmm… there does not seem much to say… Would the snail be dry or frozen ? Not really, it is just not the right time to move the wine… So we watch, taste, and let Nature do the job ! But we have some plans : the bottling of the white wines at the end of the winter and the red wines for Spring. But what is exciting for the moment is VINISUD. February 22nd, 23rd and 24th in Montpellier, we will be there for this special wine fair. So, it will be a pleasure for us to let you know about the latest news of Riberach. HALL 11 STAND E59, it will be THE place to be if you don’t want to miss your Vinisud 2010 ! We will be under the banner “Roussillon, Terre d’altitude” with our colleague and friend Philippe Modat, and we will be delighted to make you taste our wines. Another important event will be Weltwein Festival (The World Wine Festival), in Vienna (Austria) in Palais Coburg April 21st to 24th and we will be invited with 45 other wine makers to the “wine forum” and to the tasting “Wine and Chocolate”. www.weltweinfestival.com

 

There is no more “cave cooperative” in Bélesta !

Well, the inscription above the entrance of the cave-hotel-restaurant will remain : it belongs to the building and it is out of question to rename it. But it is true that except for the massive building, we don’t really see anymore the remains of an industrial site. Some people will say that it is great, some others will regret it… But that’s life ! So, “avanti” !

We also found our cooking chef ! And we even tried his food ! This is even one of the most pleasant part in this adventure… His name ? We cannot tell you for the moment, but we will soon… and it will be an opportunity for you to read the Spring newsletter !

The manager of the hotel ? We are about to conclude, but sorry, no name for the moment !

You can notice that I did not talk about the work… Would everything be finished ? No, I don’t want to joke about that, there are people who work under pressure because everything must be ready for June 2010, and believe me, there is still some work to do… but we will manage ! L’escargot
