After 85 years of loyal service, the Bélesta cooperative cellar, founded in 1925, was nothing more than an industrial ruin when Luc Richard, a native of the region, and his wife Karin Pühringer, both architects, fell in love with this derelict building. A legacy of the region's wine boom, this former "wine cathedral" has been rehabilitated in a bucolic loft style while preserving the traces of its original function.
In order to perpetuate the know-how of the men and women of Bélesta, Luc created the Riberach Wine Estate in 2006 in association with a winemaker, Jean-Michel Mailloles, and two oenologists: Patrick Rodrigues and Guilhem Soulignac. Today it is this "multiculti" alliance that you can taste in a glass!
Our vineyard extends over 12 hectares cultivated in organic farming, running between the Mediterranean and the Pyrenean mountains. This is where it all began: in the heart of the vineyards, on these lands soaked by the Catalan sun. Here, the soils offer an incredible geological variety that makes the richness of these high altitude wines. Swept by the tramontana, these hectares produce wines with an atypical, precise and singular profile.
Aware of the richness and natural qualities of our terroir, we make it a point of honour to let nature express itself through Riberach wines. Since our first wine, we have been committed to an environmentally friendly approach, focusing on the cultivation of local grape varieties such as Grenache, Macabeu and Carignan.
Riberach wines are first and foremost the expression of our terroir. The geology and altitude of the Pyrenean foothills allow us to produce vintages and parcel selections that reveal the freshness of our wines as well as the philosophy and passion of the people who created them.

Because "wine is first made in the vineyard", we vinify in a traditional way, without any technological input. To respect the ecosystems, our health and yours, our wines are produced in Agro-Ecology. We propose an organic, integrated and coherent approach both in the vineyard and in the cellar:
- We reject the use of pesticides and herbicides and more generally all synthetic products or GMOs on the vine.
- Our fermentations are spontaneous, no chemical or physical corrections are made to the wines.
- The use of animal/plant origin fining agents and sterile filtration are forbidden.
- The use of sulphites is extremely limited, when not non-existent.
Our work aims to enhance the existing natural balance and ultimately to maintain and improve the fertility of our soils in a sustainable development perspective.
Whatever the vintage, we strive to vinify our wines without artifice and to reveal the unique character of their mountain terroir.
Throughout the year, we invite you to come and taste our wines and discuss the subject at the Comptoir-Cave of Domaine Riberach****. Our cellar-shop contains not only the wines of the estate, but also about thirty other references selected within a radius of 30km from our winegrower friends. In order to maintain our eco-responsible approach, all the wines we propose to discover are produced in organic, biodynamic or natural conditions.
You can also find all our wines on our online shop!
